Close up of the giant chocolate brownie we made for Sandy’s birthday. Sarah mixed, I baked and we both went crazy with the toppings.

Look at that face. This is how happy a kid can be on her first night in London. I like going away because it’s concentrated time together. At home, people are busy, things get in the way. They shouldn’t, but they do. That’ll change soon. “We’re friends Mum, right?” Right.

Someone I know had their first one of these this week. But she actually isn’t that bothered. It might be because she’s smart or because she’s cool or because she’s 9. It might be none of these things. But it’s still OK.

Converse. Cons. Chuckies. I bought Sarah a pair the other day. Her second. I was looking forward to them being delivered, excited about taking them out of the box, looking at how small and cute they would be.

She’s a size 3. It was a pair of grown up shoes that came out of the box. Funny thing, time :)
