A Single Man (2009) Dir. Tom Ford

Watched this last night. As affecting as it is stylish. Colin Firth… so good.

Thor (2011) Dir. Kenneth Branagh
Cute. Well he is. Thor, the character, is perfect. Chris Helmsworth nailed it. We saw the film in the cinema last night. It looks good on the big screen. The explosions are impressive. There’s just not much holding them together. Natalie Portman is lovely, as always, but totally underutilized. Same with Stellan Skarsgård. With him, so much it’s almost criminal. It was a decent way to spend an evening, but the film doesn’t stand up on it’s own. It is a smart way to introduce Thor before the Avengers.

“That was the best most epic film I’ve seen in… at least a year.”
