Tea makes everything better. I like lots of different kinds of tea. Jasmine, Camomile, Earl Grey… I had a brief flirtation with Lapsang Souchong a few years ago but after realizing it tasted a bit like the inside of a chimney I went back to plain old English Breakfast. The kind of tea that sits on most people’s breakfast table is without a doubt my favourite kind of tea.
I don’t usually give much thought to where it came from, though I know it probably came from India or Sri Lanka. I usually don’t think about where the sugar came from either; somewhere in South America or the Caribbean probably. I just drink it because it makes everything better. It’s also like a history lesson in a mug. Or a china cup if you’re my Dad. Think about it.
Anyway, here’s to feeling better. Here’s to a good cup of tea.
